Description
It is a cryptocrystalline variety of silica (SiO2).
The successive layers of the agate, finely zoned, are of varied colors.
It fills the cavities of eruptive rocks (geodes).
Agate is a mineral which was used to make jewelry in Antiquity.
It is currently used for the manufacture of utilitarian or decorative objects: table tops, vases, boxes, candlesticks, ashtrays, bowls, paperweights in particular.
Thanks to its hardness and resistance, agate is also used by various industries.
