Description
Most of the earth's crust is made up of granite. It is a rock typical of the depths of the continental crust formed following the cooling and crystallization of magma a few kilometers deep.
The variety of calc-alkaline granite includes light minerals, such as potassium feldspar, plagioclase and quartz, and dark minerals called ferromagnesian minerals, which are black mica (biotite) and green amphibole (hernblende).
It is often used as a building material or facing stone.
