Description
The first task of any country that has suffered the horrors of war and the destruction and dislocation of its structures and infrastructure is to rebuild everything.
This requires an enlightened State strategy, material resources, popular will and citizen mobilization.
Algeria embarked, once independence was hard-won, into an all-out reconstruction process which affected all sectors of activity: construction, roads, administration, agriculture, industry, health, education, transport, etc.
Priority was given to health in order to reduce natal and prenatal mortality, as well as to education with the mission of generalizing literacy and enshrining the principle of school for all.
Schools, dispensaries, health centers and hospitals were thus built as a priority. The other priority was to offer a decent living environment to all Algerians, including in rural areas, by building villages and urban centers equipped with all the structures necessary for decent civic life.
