Description
It is commonly found in summer or autumn in forests, woods, thickets, especially on more or less acidic soils.
It is a slender mushroom which, in its youth, has quite the appearance of a drumstick, for there is a large rounded bulb at the base of its long stem.
The closed cap is almost spherical, its color is brown or grayish brown and it is covered with numerous scaly plates.
As for the foot, it is very long but slender. The ring is large, fringed at the edge and very complicated in structure.
It is mobile around the foot. The flesh is thin, tender in the cap and fibrous in the stem. It is an excellent edible, highly sought after almost everywhere, but it is best consumed young.
