Rock salt or halite
It is sodium chloride (NaCl) which crystallizes into cubes with a glassy shine.
Generally colorless, it is sometimes white or red.
Salt is found in ancient marine sediments formed by evaporation.
Light, it rises to the surface through faults (salt rocks of Djelfa, El Outaya).
He is currently training in the sebkhas.
Rock salt is widely used by the chemical industry which uses it as a raw material, particularly for the preparation of sodium compounds, chlorine and chlorine compounds.
